The Ultrahuman Ring AIR provides a Sleep Score as part of your Sleep Index that assigns a score out of 100 to your sleep. This score is based on your performance with respect to 11+ sleep contributors and time spent across different sleep stages. The Sleep Score summarizes your sleep into a quantitative score out of 100. While seemingly straightforward, the anatomy of your sleep, made up of Sleep Contributors, has a role to play in determining this score. Your performance in these Sleep Contributors, along with the time spent in different sleep stages, together make up your Sleep Score. By tracking your sleep and following personalized nudges, you can make lifestyle changes that will help you improve your sleep.
Sleep Contributors: The Anatomy of Your Sleep
Sleep Contributors are Ultrahuman way of breaking down a nights sleep for you. There are various markers that contribute to determining the quality of your sleep. By measuring your performance in each of these individual markers referred to as Sleep Contributors, the overall quality of your sleep is determined. The Ring AIR measures and evaluates your performance with respect to 11+ contributors such as Sleep Efficiency, Temperature, Restfulness, Total Sleep, HR drop, Restoration Time among others. By tracking these individual Sleep Contributors, and understanding areas of improvement with personalised nudges, you can now work your way to a good night’s sleep.

The Ring AIR has capabilities that track the nuances of your sleep. Capabilities such as Sleep Debt, Morning alertness and Tosses and Turns during your sleep are directed towards helping you understand your sleep better, and giving you the required information to make lifestyle changes.
Sleep Debt
The Ring AIR has established a sleep baseline from your personalised sleep patterns. Your Sleep Debt is derived from the cumulative difference between this baseline and the number of hours you’ve slept for. Depending on this you either have a surplus or are in debt to your sleep. This capability helps you track when you’re falling behind and by how much.
Morning Alertness
Morning Alertness is how awake and alert you feel upon waking. Sleep habits, environment, and motivation levels affect this. Tracking Morning Alertness can help you improve sleep health and adjust your routine for better daily wakefulness and productivity.
Tossing and Turning
This capability tracks your movement during sleep. By doing that it gives insights into overall sleep quality, irregularities with respect to sleep, and impact of stress and restfulness on your sleep.

Something might have affected your sleep restfulness. Check your room temperature, humidity, noise levels and avoid things like stimulants and light exposure before sleep.

Your Sleep is broken down into multiple Sleep Stages. Each stage serves a unique purpose and contributes to the functioning of the body. During these different stages of your sleep, different metabolic processes of the body occur for growth, repair, restoration and maintenance.
The Ring AIR tracks your sleep across these different sleep stages-Awake, REM Sleep, Light Sleep and Deep Sleep. It can help you track the time spent in each stage and learn about changes you can make to your lifestyle to spend the optimal amount of time at every sleep stage.

Your body recovers dynamically throughout the day. To capture this aspect of recovery, the Ring AIR tracks changes in your recovery markers in real time. These markers such as Skin Temperature, RHR, HRV, Stress Rhythm among others make up the Recovery Score.
You can now get an understanding of how these contributors influence how your Recovery Index changes as you go about your day. You will periodically receive personalized nudges and insights to make lifestyle changes that will help you improve on these individual contributors, and as a result your Recovery Score as well.

This marker evaluates the variations in your Skin Temperature, and can serve as an early indicator of the body’s reaction to stress, infection, inflammation or any other physiological changes. By constantly monitoring these fluctuations in real time, the Skin Temperature enables you to detect potential health concerns, and make informed decisions for well being.
The HRV Factor: Continuous HRV Monitoring
Ring AIR’s adaptive real-time HRV (Heart Rate Variability) monitoring measures the time between heartbeats. By tracking HRV continuously, you can identify periods of high stress or low recovery capacity, enabling informed lifestyle and stress management decisions.
Similarly, RHR (Resting Heart Rate), assesses an individual’s average heart rate while at rest. It offers valuable insights into your cardiovascular health, fitness levels and overall well being.
